When color can tell a story

You can tell stories through color. Have you ever thought about it?

Yes, color can convey concepts, sensations, emotions, stories.

Sometimes, however, it is easy to forget how important color communication is, especially when we talk about brand identity and visual communication.

Yes, because color has the ability to reach the eyes and hearts of those who look at your visual communication and it can do it with a subtle effectiveness that is often underestimated.

The communicative power of color is not expressed only through purely graphic elements that are naturally part of personal branding and brand identity, such as the colors chosen for your logo.

The communicative power of color also works and expresses itself when we talk about photographs and the images that you choose to represent your brand and your business.

To be more precise: when I talk about color, photography and communication I am not only referring to the difference between choosing, for example, a profile photo in black and white rather than in full color, despite all the nuances of meaning that this choice alone can bring with it.

I am referring to the actual colors you can see in your photos, to the colors of the outfit you choose to wear all along with the color of your make-up.

Going into even more detail and talking about an even more structured and thought-out type of visual communication, I am also referring to everything that we can define as the “vibe” of the photo: from the white balance, to the use of saturation or de-saturation, to various and possible color castings (intended and not) present in your image.

All these elements, combined with each other, as I said at the beginning of this article, can tell stories and convey concepts and feelings in a much deeper way than you might think.

Have you ever thought about it? Have you ever stopped to think about how a the use of color can help you convey your brand message and the values and mission of your brand?
